Calpe
Calpe was a former fishing village and lies at the base of the Penon de Ifach, a massive volcanic rock to a height of over 1000 feet that bears a resemblance to Gibraltar. There is a footpath which meanders up this landmark to a tunnel excavated through the rock to reach the summit.
Calpe is very popular with tourists as it has two fine sandy beaches. The Levante beach is almost a mile long. There is also a small pebble beach by the port with the other small sandy beach nearby.
